Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease on the respiratory system that often reduces the quality of life in patients, impairs the sufferers to perform everyday tasks. Current medicine often treats asthma via acute airway smooth muscle relaxation and bronchoconstriction reversion, thus improving the lung function; however, adverse effects such as emesis, arrhythmia, tachycardia, coughing and bronchospasm were reported.
As temporarily suppressing the asthmatic symptoms is not an ultimate effective treatment to cure the disease, STPT has developed STA36, a botanical composition as an adjuvant treatment to chronic asthma. Scientific assays of STA36 on animals, including pharmacology and toxicology evaluations were proven to be effective and safe. Results from pilot Phase II clinical trials demonstrated STA36 to be effective as a supporting treatment for asthma with the evidence of improving the lung functions and relieving the symptoms within persistent, mild-to-moderated asthma patients, thus decreases the overall intake of steroids. STPT is now under co-development for the commencement of clinical trials and marketing in China Territory.
